Bellarine Distillery

Founded in 2015, Bellarine Distillery is the first on the Bellarine Peninsula and Geelong region since the 1980s. Created by Russ Watson and Lorelle Warren, this family-owned gem features a custom-built distillery in a stunning garden. Joined by Nicky and Craig Michael in 2017, with Craig as Head Distiller, they craft premium gin and single malt whisky, blending tradition with cutting-edge science and innovation.

Family owned and fiercely independent. The idea for Bellarine Distillery originated after a few drams of whisky and a visit to Scotland in 2012, inspired by the romance of the highlands. It took three years to receive our first whisky still, "Ronald," and another three to open the distillery to the public. Located on a property with a rich history, previously a chicken farm and a stop for Cobb and Co coaches, the land hosts a variety of mature fruit trees and fertile soil perfect for growing botanicals. The distillery's tasting room, The Whiskery, opened on April 25, 2017, initially featuring flagship gin, Teddy & The Fox. This gin quickly became a favorite among locals and visitors, winning numerous awards. Bellarine Distillery has since expanded its offerings to include five gins, a gin liqueur, and award-winning small-batch single malt whisky releases. Bellarine Distillery is committed to blending tradition with innovation. They grow a range of botanicals on the property, combining these with the finest Australian and global flavours to create unique gins. Their dedication to quality and craftsmanship was recognized when they were named Australian Gin Distillery of the Year in 2022 at the Melbourne International Spirits Festival. In 2024 Lorelle was inducted into the Australian Distillers Hall of Fame for her contribution to the distilling industry.
