Battery Point Distillery

Battery Point Distillery was born from a passion for Tasmania and the respected traditions of whisky distilling. In Hobart’s historic Battery Point, where winding lanes of 19th century cottages rise from the harbour, a small stone building contains a treasure trove of small batch, hand-made whiskies slowly ageing in a collection of carefully sourced casks.

Vintage Spanish sherry, tawny and port casks – as well as newer bourbon casks – all play their part in Battery Point Distillery’s vision. Whisky runs proudly in the blood of our pioneer distiller Jack Lark, whose legacy is now taken to the next level with Luke Lawrence steering the ship, ably assisted by Chris Gardam, and Louis Duckett in the shed, filling and blending. Our creative and visionary use of cask and barrel influence drives extraordinary character into all Battery Point whiskies. Painstakingly double-distilled in tiny quantities from 100% Tasmanian malt mash and pure Tasmanian water, each whisky is completely unique from batch to batch. Variations and nuances of single, double or triple cask ageing come to life, allowing whisky lovers to experience exceptional contemporary expressions of Tasmania.
